Who wants flowers when you're dead? Nobody.
I don't get it.

We all have our own ways of feeling alive. Everyone is unique and has there own special way to get their heart beating. Some don't like it to beat hard or fast at all. Steady and calm.

Ed Gein inspired many modern horror movies. Not one. Many. Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Silence of the Lambs. Psycho. This one man's actions have led us to much distrust among others. We fear strangers even more so now. Because, now, we have seen just what some strangers are capable of.

Human skull as bedpost ornaments. Human skin to upholster furniture. Belts made of nibbles, shade turners made of lips, a lamp made from a spine for support and and the shade made of skin. The list goes on, he was a true monster. But why? Did he do it to feel alive? Did he do it as a hobby? Was he insane? Mentally troubled? What is at the root of his violence?

I've strived to understand just about every type of person. Most people are unbelievably easy to understand, too. Well, the surface is easy. But when you start diggin deeper, it gets harder and harder. One thing that is very difficult for me to understand, killers. Especially serial killers. Crimes of passion aren't hard to understand. Crimes out of desire are a little more complicated.

I take that as a good sign that I don't really know how to relate to them. I still want to understand, though. What does it take to create a serial killer?

People find themselves very capable of dealing with gore. They can watch simulated murders without batting an eye. Gruesome bloodbaths, and it will hardly stir anyone who sees it. Change the channel to a live surger and now only a select handful can bare to watch it without disgust. It's one thing to be familair with gor..it's another to be an active part in it. A person can kill a video game character without remorse...but they'd be hard pressed to hang a person upside down and saw through their bodies from the groin to their heads.

It is a good thing that I don't quite understand it. I don't think it's good for anyone who DOES quite get it.
